James Cameron, the director of Titanic, is working with other scientists, engineers, the Environmental Protection Agency and other federal organizations to help brainstorm ideas about how to stop the oil spill in the Gulf. He is apparently going to use his knowledge of underwater filming to help the team best contain the oil.
http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/37453610/ns/today-entertainment/
And Kevin Costner has spent millions of his money developing machines that can suck up the oily mess and remove the oil from the water. I can’t understand why we aren’t hearing if the machines are working or IF they are even being used on a large scale to clean up the mess in the Gulf. Check out the story here

Courtesy of Eco-Stars
Coloring’s a fun family activity that never goes out of style. But plain old crayons can be so blah. Bring the fun back with Eco Stars ($9) star-shaped crayons. Not only are they non-toxic, they’re also made of 100 percent recycled crayons that have been collected from the National Crayon Recycle Program.
Available in 20 primary colors, they also come in a super cute eco-friendly brown box. Even better: The sturdy shape makes them easy to grip — perfect for pint-size fingers.

So what does everyone think of Kevin Costner’s plan for the Gulf oil spill? He has donated six machines that use centrifugal force to separate the oil from water to the rescue efforts in Gulf. They plan to try these machines out this week to see if they will work and help clear the polluted water. Hopefully Costner’s plan will help aid in the clean up! http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/nationworld/2011925837_oilkevin22.html

This celebrity mom is making the world a greener place with their eco-friendly actions and respect for Mother Nature!
Angelina Jolie
In addition to being an Academy Award winning actress and mother to six children, Maddox, Zahara, Shiloh, Pax, Knox and Vivienne, Angelina Jolie still finds time to travel the world and make it a better place as a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations. Alongside partner Brad Pitt, Jolie has donated millions of dollars through the Jolie-Pitt Foundation, to aid efforts including Doctors Without Borders and Global Action for Children. The couple also donated $1 million to humanitarian groups to benefit over 4 million people affected by the crisis in Darfur, and $100K to the American SOS Children’s Villages to aid those affected by the devastating earthquake in Haiti. She explains,SOS has been in Haiti for over three decades, now raising over 300 orphaned and abandoned children and caring for 4,000 more impoverished children and families to help prevent child abandonment.
Most impressively, Jolie gives the greatest gift of all, which is her time, presence and attention in person, by making frequent visits to poor and impoverished refugees and survivors of natural disasters.
Angelina Jolie helps prove that we can save the earth one person at a time, by helping those who are less fortunate and by shining attention on the communities and people who need a helping hand the most.

I first fell in love with (well that’s a little exaggerated) with Leonardo DiCapro in ”What’s Eating Gilbert Grape” remember that movie? Johnny Depp was in it too! Well, anyway, Leonardo is all grown up now and living a ”green” life in NYC. Read all about it courtesy of Elle Magazine!
Leonardo DiCaprio – He’s undoubtedly an eco all-star, but his recent purchase of a state-of-the-art green condo in New York City cements his places as one of the leaders of the celebrity eco-movement. Riverhouse, his new home overlooking the Hudson River, features a fresh filtered air system, an in-house water treatment facility, low-emission paints and finishes, and rotating solar panels. The building also has a bike storage area, convenient for DiCaprio, who has been spotted riding around downtown with girlfriend Bar Rafaeli.
If you spot him – let us know!

Proponents of climate change legislation usually invoke the need to reduce global warming, but actress Sigourney Weaver is coming to the defense of something that’s often out of sight — oceans.
”One secret the oceans have kept very well is their sensitivity to carbon dioxide pollution,” Weaver said at a Senate hearing Thursday, as she urged lawmakers to pass climate legislation that would limit carbon emissions. She made her pitch on the same day that a report from the National Research Council found that ocean chemistry is changing faster than it has in hundreds of thousands of years because of the carbon dioxide being absorbed from the atmosphere. The resulting increased acidity of the oceans poses a serious threat to shellfish and other marine life.

Big Brother 11 – goes eco-friendly!
The popular CBS reality show returns for an 11th round of voyeurism and psychodrama, as 12 strangers live together in a specially outfitted house where their every move is caught on camera. This time around, they compete as members of groups based on high-school cliques — the athletes, the popular kids, the brainiacs, and the off-beat group. As an added twist, a 13th mystery houseguest will join the contestants, giving an added advantage to one of the cliques. One by one a houseguest is evicted… Read more by his or her peers, until the last houseguest standing takes home the $500,000 prize. This season’s house is eco-friendly in the extreme, and the houseguests will be required to recycle and made aware of the amount of waste they generate. What do you think about this? Have you been watching? Are they recycling etc. etc.? Let us know!

It’s easy to look and see what celebrities are doing to be green. They’re quick to state how the silk dress they’re wearing was made by allowing the silk worm to live out it’s complete life cycle or how they founded a new green initiative.
It can come across as tooting your own horn but where’s the balance? Without hearing what’s being done, how will we know if we need to do more?
What do you think?
