Hi, so glad to find a group with an interest in raising their children without putting such a strain on the environment. I have a six month old daughter who I want to grow up knowing how important it is to take care of the earth.

This is a great month to go have an eco-adventure with the kids! I plan to have my little girl plant a tree on earth day. Anyone else doing something ”earthy” with their kids?

Hi eco-mamas, Just wanted to share this link I came across with the latest recalls on toys with excessive amounts of lead.

Just found this tip for cleaning cloth diapers and wanted to share:
Presoak flushed-out, soiled diapers in a diaper pail filled with hot water and cup of Borax for 30 minutes before washing. It helps to reduce odors and stains and makes diapers more absorbent. -
My 2 yr old daughter has been really sick with a virus that caused sores in her throat. She didn’t want to eat much- but what she would eat was ice cream! So I went to the market and bought strawberries, blueberries and blackberries and ground them up in an ice cream shake with some pureed spinach and califlower (can’t even taste it!) and VOILA! A healthy shake that will make it past a painful throat and still keep a little one healthy!

Anyone have any kid themed eco-adventure ideas?

We have a pontoon boat and we love to go out on a beautiful day but how do you keep a little one occupied on a boat? Coloring only works for so long!
Last week, I took a large canvas bag along and as we walked through the path to the boat we picked up rocks and sticks and leaves – filled the bag all the way to the top – and carried it on the boat. Then when we settled in a spot for some relaxation, I took out the bag and let her throw things one by one into the lake! No plastic, no man made stuff – only things that go into the lake everyday. An easy and green way to keep her from throwing her goldfish overboard!
