Well, I guess the next time that there is a hit and run involving a bike, the authorities will know who to add to their list of suspects. Bicyclists pay taxes just like you do. They have the same rights to the road as you do. There is no law that gives cars exclusive rights [...]

Even if you aren’t looking for a new or used car – you can Do your Part by ensuring that the car you drive is properly maintained, including proper air pressure in your tires. Its unbelievable how fast the air pressure can be depleted and how much money that costs because low tire pressure = [...]

Thanks for the update!
I wonder if the city will communicate the updated information so people don’t unintentionally throw waxed paper products away. Of course, if they do another mailing to communicate the omission, they are leaving themselves open to criticism because they will have to spend money and waste more resources to do so.
It will be interesting to see what happens. In reply to - andy posted an update in the group Charlotte, NC Recycling : We received a letter yesterday from the folks handling Charlotte recycling and it appears that they will NOT be recycling juice boxes, milk and juice cartons – or any wax based paper products. I wonder if there is an area list of best green retail establishments?
Newsweek’s had an environmental ranking of America’s 500 largest corporations.

Contacted the city today and you will be able to recycle wax coated paper cartons like milk and juice boxes. Apparently it was a late addition to the acceptable items list.
Thanks for the update!

well, becky, the answer is ”it depends”. if you want the literal translation of composting, then yes, it keeps waste out of the landfills or water treatment facilities and turns that waste into useful nutrients for plants. using the garbage disposal deposits waste into water treatment facilities.
however, if you happen to have a green garbage disposal, and we know that composting is a brownish material, then no, because the garbage disposal is greener than the compost.

This composting thing is hard to remember. I seem to think about it just after i turn the garbage disposal on.
so is composting that much greener than using the garbage disposal?
