Awesome! Recycling is getting better at high-traffic events. Speed Street recycling increased 15% over last year. http://cltblog.com/7406

Two years ago on Father’s Day weekend, a friend of mine was biking on a 4 lane road with very wide lanes (on a ten-mile loop bikers use very frequently for exercise) and hit by a driver because the driver was trying to pass another car doing the speed limit. Reason to be in a [...]

Anyone tried the Cedarwood and Sage all purpose leaner from Trader Joe’s? It’s my new cleaner of choice in the kitchen now because I can use it on the granite!

I have always loved Crate and Barrel when I need to find a great gift, but it’s nice to know they are doing their part to help reduce their impact on the environment. They are taking action with everything from how their packaging is made to saving energy in their retail spaces. Good to know. http://www.crateandbarrel.com/Environment/

I love the bamboo kitchen items from Crate and Barrel. It’s a good thing that I do not have one close to me…otherwise I could do some serious damage in that store!

Loved this tip! We will be doing this this weekend.

In reply to - Tracy commented on the blog post Control Weeds Without Chemicals I just shared this tip with my mom and she’s so excited to try this. Since she’s working on her garden back home (about 1700 mi away) I love being able to send her a video for the things I can’t show her in [...] · View

I’m anxious to hear how this goes! Anything *safe* that helps is worth a try.

In reply to - Theresa posted an update in the group Greenertainment: So what does everyone think of Kevin Costner’s plan for the Gulf oil spill? He has donated six machines that use centrifugal force to separate the oil from water to the rescue efforts in Gulf. They plan to try these machines out this week to see if they will [...] · View

Wow! This list blows me away. They need to be taken off the shelf! I’m with you Megan. I love Seventh Generation and the vinegar and baking soda are staples in my house. It’s all about staying informed and making smart choices.

In reply to - Megan M. posted an update in the group A Greener Clean : This morning, a group of women in the office couldn’t stop talking about two big stories. I stumbled upon this information about Starbucks and thought back to Terri’s GreenDish that mentioned the overuse of Starbucks paper cups and their lack of attention to reducing the waste.

I can’t help but notice anytime I’m in any one of the coffee stores. Not to mention how unsustainable the coffee industry is.
But then there’s this flip side. The company is doing something to at least green it spaces.

With so much information to weigh on whether they are green enough, it would be SO nice just find a good coffee company who does it all. I personally LOVE my coffee and the convenience of a coffee house, but would love to see them green the full picture. Is it possible to get the best of both (all) worlds?

I’m cleaning out my daughter’s closet today and will be sending clothes and toys to Goodwill and posting on eBay! Yes, quite a chore to go through all this stuff. But boy will it feel good when it’s all done.

Yum! Just found this healthy tip via Lowes Foods page on Facebook: ”If your family likes chicken or turkey salad, then try this to make it satisfying and healthy. Instead of mayo, use a 50:50 mixture of light mayo and plain nonfat yogurt. Creamy, delicious and good for you”

I give back the hangers and recycle the paper on the shirts too. The plastic bags can be taken in to recycle with the plastic grocery bags but I rarely do that since I have reusable grocery bags. So sometimes I just knot one end of the plastic laundry covers and reuse them as a trash bag. Now, I just need to find a way around those chemicals!

Hey Becky! Funny you asked that I was thinking about the same thing! But there is a way you can Do Your Part with ANY dry cleaner and that is by taking back the wire hangers and bags that they give you with your clothes every time you go back. I make sure to put them in my trunk right after I take the clothes out so they are with me when I make my next drop off!
